Maui Class on Business Structure

The upcoming Maui class on choosing a business structure will be held at the Maui County Business Resource Center in the Maui mall. This is the kind of information that people usually charge for, but seeing as it is being held by the MCBRC, the information is free.

If you are a Maui business owner or hope to become one during these shaky economic conditions, then you should know that choosing a business structure is one of the most important decisions you can make regarding your business.

The "Business Structures Workshop" which is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15 from 12-1p.m. will outline how each type of business structure has unique characteristics influencing issues such as ownership, control/management, liability, tax treatment and dissolution of the business.

Understanding the options and their respective advantages and disadvantages is strongly recommended for entrepreneurs before decisions are made. You can expect this course to provide an overview of common entity types and information on the business registration process.

The class will be presented by Jayna C. Uyehara, Esq. who was appointed manager of the State’s DCCA Business Action Center in 2005 and served as a lead attorney and legislative coordinator for the Department of Taxation.
