Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce Business Fest on Maui

The third annual Maui Native Hawaiian Chamber of Commerce Business Fest is coming up on September 4th at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa. Mercer "Chubby" Vicens, its president, has invited members and friends to attend.
The day will kick off with the ceremonial arrival on the beach of the "Ko'i" which is the Chamber's symbol of work ethic and commerce. The ceremony will take place at 6:16a.m. and include over thirty canoes. After the morning ceremony will be a full day of conference workshops, followed by the first annual Ko'i Awards Banquet at the Grand Wailea Ballroom. The award recognizes exemplary members of the business community who have demonstrated innovation, leadership and aloha with their community and business involvement.
Information on issues affecting Hawaiians and business will be on the business agenda including topics such as water, housing, ceded lands, and GPAC. Of course stimulation of the economy in the Maui community will be a major focus as well.
This fest is open to the public as well as members and guests but seating appears to be limited to 250 people, so if you are interested in attending, reserve your space by August 15th. There is no charge for people who attend both the awards banquet and the conference. You can contact Della Nakamoto at 808-264-1213 for reservations. If you have any other questions, check out the MNHCC website.
