Grow a Beautiful Garden at your South Maui Home

If you are a South Maui enthusiast, like we are, and you are interested in green living, South Maui Sustainability has an upcoming event you will like. It's called "Basics to Bounty in Your South Maui Garden".
Sometimes it seems like gardening is an uphill battle where the plants of your choice need inordinate amounts of care and attention. The easiest way to reduce your gardening workload is to select plants that grow well under the natural conditions that exist where you live. South Maui is characterized by sunny, hot, humid conditions with little rain.
If you show up on Thursday, October 8th at 6:30p.m. for this event, you will have the opportunity to learn the gardening basics for a bountiful South Maui garden. Susan Wyche is hosting and she will take you on a visual tour in home vegetable gardening for this part of the island. Attendees are encouraged to share their own tips and knowledge at this collaborative event. The event is also a good opportunity to bring pictures of unknown bugs, plants or blighted leaves so that others can help you identify them.
The event will include a seed and starts exchange so you can share with other garden enthusiasts. The organizers seem to want to make this meeting as interactive as possible, so people can learn from one another and have a lot of fun connecting with others who share their same interests.
It's free to attend the event and it will be held at Kihei Charter School off Ohukai Road. There will be potluck pupus. Check out South Maui Sustainability.org for more info or call 874-5955.
