Maui Photo Festival & Workshops

South Maui Real Estate in Hawaii

By Mark Harbison

Maui is one of the great art capitals of the world, and it's no mystery why that is. For decades, artists have come looking for inspiration to breathe extra life into their work, and there's something special about Maui that makes such endeavors so successful. The island boasts countless art galleries featuring oil paintings, acrylic paintings, charcoal drawings, sculptures, pottery, and incredible photographic works of art.

Many of the artists whose work is featured in these galleries actually live on the island. They came for inspiration and found a permanent source of it, and so they never left. The second annual Maui Photo Festival & Workshops will be held from August 25-29th at the Hyatt Regency Maui, to continue training opportunities for world-class digital photography.

The Maui Photo Festival considers Maui one of the world's most photogenic places. As such, it's the perfect place for lessons like these, where everyone from novice to professional attendees can learn from classroom sessions, hands-on demo sessions and location shoots led by professional photographers.

If you are passionate about your craft, it's a great opportunity to network with others who share your enthusiasm and to observe the unique vision of many other brilliant and creative photographers. You can also opt in for the adventurous excursions such as doors-off helicopter shoots or underwater photo tours to Turtle Town.

Evenings will be spent viewing the work of presenting pros and reflecting on photos taken that day. These sessions will take place in the outdoor theater on Kaanapali Beach. The Photo Festival is not a free event and you will want to register ahead of time to participate. You'll find more information at www.mauiphotofestival.com.
