Kihei Rotary Club Hosts Fundraiser for Hale Kau Kau

Maui Homes for Sale in Kihei

By Mark Harbison

Giving back to the community is a natural effort that seems to be built into Maui residents. When you live on an isolated island like ours, there is a very strong sense of familiarity with other people that naturally develops, and for that reason, there's a heightened need to offer support to those who need it.

Rotary is an organization of professional and business leaders who have united, not just on our island, but all around the world to offer humanitarian services in all kinds of vocations. There are over 30,000 Rotary clubs dispersed among 160 countries. The good work that has been done by participants can't be measured.

The Kihei Rotary Club is hard at work to improve the Maui community, and they are hosting an upcoming fundraiser. The money generated will go to the club's community-service projects and Hale Kau Kau, a St. Theresa program to feed the hungry for free on a daily basis.

It's a spaghetti dinner fundraiser that will be held on August 21st from 6-8pm at Stawasz Hall on the grounds of St. Theresa Church on the corner of South Kihei Road and Lipoa Street. The dinner will include pasta and meatballs with salad, garlic bread, dessert and soft drinks. Dj Dr. Love will entertain.

The club directs effort into a variety of community-service projects including everything from purchasing dictionaries for 4th-graders in public schools to providing prenatal vitamins to the Community Clinic of Maui.

If you'd like to participate in the fundraiser, the dinner is $15 for adults and $7.50 for kids aged 7-12. There's no charge for kids 6 and under. You can purchase tickets from any Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise member or buy them at the door. For more information, check out the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise website.
