South Maui Sustainability Conference

On Wednesday, January 12th, South Maui Sustainability (SMS) will be presenting A Preview of the 10th Annual Maui Aloha Aina Body and Soil Conference. For those of you who are interested in getting off the grid in a tropical beach paradise location, a Wailea home may be just right for you, and you will probably get a lot out of the upcoming conference.
What's this all about? First, an introduction to SMS. It is a non-profit organization that consists of South Maui citizens who are interested in moving toward a more sustainable lifestyle in this part of the island. They promote sustainability through action and education, urging South Maui residents and the community to grow its own food, produce its own energy, and conserve and share resources. They encourage minimal use of non-renewable resources and the maintenance of a healthy environment and community.
SMS has announced that they will be teaming up with Vince Mina and the Maui Aloha Aina Association to host the kickoff event for the conference. The theme for this year's conference is "Getting to the Heart of Body & Soil Vitality"
There will be short presentations from world-class presenters, and the opening is free, but you can get tickets there for the following 3-day event from January 14-16. The event will be held at the Kihei Charter High School from 6-8pm, but they've invited guests to show up early and talk story. Check the SMS website for more details, and if you have any trouble finding the high school, just look for the blue and yellow SMS signs from Pi'ilani Highway to Ohukai Street in North Kihei.
Have fun! And if you are interested in shopping around for real estate in the South Maui area, we recommend a look at Kihei homes and our featured Maui real estate. Mahalo!
