Maui Walk for Kupuna and Caregivers

Condos in Maalaea

By Mark Harbison

The Maui Adult Day Care Centers will be holding its annual Family Caregiver Walk tomorrow, February 26th, from 7am-11am at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Center. This is a walk to benefit Maui Kupuna and caregivers.

You can register at 6:30am and participants will assemble at 7am. The walk will leave the mall at 7:30am, then continue to circle Keopualani Park before returning to the QKC. Organizers are also thoughtfully planning a nice mini-walk inside the mall for kupuna (elders).

These walks aren't the only interesting things that will take place at this event. There will also be a free health fair, including massages, food, door prizes, glucose & cholesterol testing, and entertainment by Danny Couch, Pacific Vibes and Friends Forever.

The goals of this organization are: to help you cope with the demands of caregiving, to keep the family together at home for a longer period of time, to allow you to go to work with peace of mind, knowing your loved one is well cared for, and to give you a little time to yourself. For the kupuna, they strive to provide an increased quality of life, provide engaging activities throughout the day, allow kupuna a chance to socialize with friends, provide mental stimulation and physical exercise, and to allow them to live at home longer than they would otherwise be able to.

If you need more information on this event, you can call Maui Adult Day Care Centers at 871-5804. They welcome any donations they receive, especially because they have been generous enough to make everything at the health fair free. Those of you who are concerned with the health and well-being of Maui's precious Kupuna should find this to be a morning well-spent. If you want to learn more about the organization, see madcc.org.

The welfare of Maui's kupuna is well-recognized by the community. This is also an excellent place to retire, and if you are considering doing so, you will not be disappointed by the incredible Maui real estate options from which you can enjoy paradise. Maalaea condos are worth a look, as are Wailea condos. Both are excellent places to kick back, relax, and enjoy the paradise you deserve. If you need any assistance, you'll find our contact information at the bottom of the page. Mahalo!
