South Maui Real Estate ListingsBy Mark Harbison

The King Kamehameha commemorative parade and ho'olaule'a is coming up on June 18th, and there will be food, fun and entertainment to make the celebration great. The parade will start at 9:45am in Lahaina and will run along Kenui Street to Front Street and finally to Shaw Street. If you are feeling like experiencing one of the most authentic Hawaiian cultural events on Maui, be sure to attend this one.

The festivities will include a ho'okupu ceremony after the parade, local entertainment by Pueo Pata, Joel Katz, The Napili Kai Foundation and others, and a ho'olaule'a with exhibits and tours provided by Friends of Moku'ula, Hui O Wa'a Kaulua, The Royal Guard, and the Lahaina Restoration Foundation.

There will be traditional Hawaiian games, some favorite Hawaiian food, crafts presented by local Maui artisans, and awards for the best floats, decorated vehicles, marching units, etc. All of the activities surrounding this event are part of a great cultural experience in celebration of our Hawaiian heritage.

If you are moving to Maui and you are just getting to know the island, this would be a good experience to help with your immersion into the Maui experience. If you want to learn more about it, click this link.
