Maui Oceanfront Marathon from Wailea to Lahaina

The 4th Annual Maui Oceanfront Marathon has returned to South Maui with another exhilarating event. This point-to-point race will take place on Sunday, January 22, starting in Wailea, continuing through Kihei and down the beautiful stretch of oceanfront roads to finish in Lahaina. The race begins at 5:45am on Wailea Ike Drive, near Joe's Bar & Grill. The finish line is located at Kamehameha Iki Park in Lahaina, near the famous banyan tree.

Nineteen aid stations will be positioned along the length of the race, sponsored by several non-profit organizations, volunteers and Maui school teams. All proceeds for the race will benefit these non-profits and schools, so your participation will support the Maui community. Precise timing will be recorded by a chip that has been installed in the bibs of each participant. For those of you that are unfamiliar, the bib is the sign you wear that displays your number. As soon as you cross the finish line, the chip will transmit your number and time to a receiver.

The race timer can publish the finishing time of entries to Facebook, and at no cost, supporters and spectators can sign up to have their Facebook walls updated when their chosen participant crosses the finish line. Medals will be awarded to all race finishers and tee shirts will be given to all participants. Timing for the finish line will end at 12:00 noon.

If running is a little too high-impact, but you're interested in joining in, walkers are invited to this event as well. Walkers begin in Wailea with a head start, and leave the starting line at 4:30am. A half marathon, 15k, 10k and 5k are also planned.
