The Hui Hosts Art Affair 2012

Real Estate Sales in Kihei

By Mark Harbison

Calling all art-lovers, Art Affair returns to Maui on Saturday, February 25th, bringing with it incredible art pieces, food, drink and live entertainment. The lure for South Maui residents to ascend Haleakala's cool slopes has never been so enticing! If you're new to Maui, Hui No'Eau, also called "The Hui" for short, is an art center and school located in Makawao. As you may know, Maui is called the art Mecca of the Pacific by many, and The Hui is a hub of activity that provides both residents and visitors with a vast array of art experiences, including the opportunity to purchase unique locally produced art or take an art class. This upcoming event should provide a vibrant and entertaining evening. The theme is Pompeii: An Evening of Muses and Myth.

For the past 21 years, Hui No'Eau has been hosting Art Affair, their largest fundraising event. Each year, the Hui chooses a different theme to celebrate, and this year it will be Pompeii. Guests can immerse themselves in the wonders of a lost piece of Roman culture through vibrantly inspired frescoes, delectable gourmet Italian food, and Roman style clothing. Treat yourself to the open bar and vodka luge. Dance to the live music performed by the Haiku Hillbillys, and take part in a live and silent auction. This is a great way to meet artists and art lovers, while also enjoying a fun evening and supporting Maui's local art community. Proceeds for Art Affair help the Hui No'Eau continue to provide exemplary art instruction for students of all ages.

A Premium ticket is $250 ($170 tax deductible), and a Standard ticket is $175 ($95 tax deductible). If you and your friends or relatives would like to attend this event together, a Premium table seats 10 guests at $2,500 ($1,700 of which is tax deductible). A Standard table of 10 is $1,750 ($950 tax deductible).

The festivities will take place at the Hui's Kaluanui Estate, a historic home built in 1917. You can find the grounds of the Hui at 2841 Baldwin Avenue, Makawao. For more information about the Hui or to purchase tickets by phone, call (808) 572-6560. If you'd like to get your tickets online, visit www.huinoeau.com.
