South Maui Hale Kau Kau Celebration

Kihei Real Estate

By Mark Harbison

If you are in the market for the perfect South Maui home, there is something you should know about this part of the island. Prospective home owners won't only enjoy the benefits of a convenient location near the warm ocean, shops, movie theaters, restaurants and spas, they'll be joining a friendly community with heart. There are always events in South Maui that benefit the community and provide fun activities for residents of the area and the island as a whole. One of these such events is coming up this weekend!

Hale Kau Kau has been feeding the hungry in South Maui for 20 years, and on the non-profit organization's anniversary this year, guests are invited to attend Hale Kau Kau Pa'ina 13th Annual Fundraiser and Celebration. The theme of the evening is "Music Feeds the Soul" and live entertainment will be performed by Makana. This prodigy musician is known as Hawaii's youngest master of slack key guitar. In addition to fine music, a delectable dinner will be served. Both a live and a silent auction will also be featured. Proceeds for this event will go to sustaining Hale Kau Kau's work. Tickets are just $95 a person for a fabulous evening of food and entertainment. Tables of 10 may be reserved if you'd like to bring a group.

The words "Hale Kau Kau" mean house of meals, and that is exactly what this group of volunteers created 20 years ago. This caring non-profit organization serves food, daily, to those in need, and makes home deliveries to the sick, disabled, and elderly who are unable to leave their homes. Maui's University of Hawaii Culinary Academy supports Hale Kau Kau by supplying much of their food, and the Federal Compassion Capital Program has provided cook training for the organization. Hale Kau Kau is filled with aloha, through and through, and is an excellent group to support.

This charitable event will take place in the elegant Aulani Ballroom of the Wailea Beach Marriott Resort and Spa. The festivities will begin at 4:30pm on Saturday, March 3rd. For more information about this event, call Marie Thomas at (808) 268-5635. Contact Hale Kau Kau if you are interested in becoming a sponsor for this event or others like it. You can also visit www.halekaukau.org. Wailea Marriott is located at 3700 Wailea Alanui Drive, Kihei.
