Rotary Club Scholarship Awards to Maui Students

June 22, 2012

Outside our work as Maui real estate agents, we are active in the Kihei-Wailea Rotary Club, and it’s nice to hear what the other chapters around the island are accomplishing for all the various communities here. Maui is a small island, and what’s good for one part of it is good for the whole.

Earlier this month, the Rotary Club of Lahaina presented scholarships to Lahainaluna High School seniors at the Lahainaluna High School Senior Scholarship and Awards Program. When February rolls around, the Rotary Club of Lahaina will also hold their annual Sweetheart Affair, which is the event at which funds are raised for scholarships like these.

All in all, they awarded $16,000 in much needed and well deserved scholarships for seniors, not only from Maui, but from Molokai as well. The funds are awarded to those who have achieved great academic excellence and are interested in a career in business. Some may leave the island, but you can bet that some will stick around. There’s no doubt that the next bright generation will continue to make Maui a better place to live.

If you are interested in the efforts of the Rotary Club, you might prefer to join a chapter in your location. The Lahaina Rotary Club is in West Maui, while our Kihei-Wailea Rotary Club is in South Maui. For those who aren’t residents yet, if you are looking to buy a Maui home and settle down on our lovely island, we assist you in finding the right one for your needs. Mahalo!
