Maui Historical Society Fundraiser Concert

South Maui Home

By Mark Harbison

Interested in preserving Maui's unique cultural history? On January 25th, the Maui Historical Society will be hosting their fundraiser concert series, "Hawaiian Moonlight" between 6-9pm at the Bailey House Museum in Wailuku.

It may be a bit of a drive if you call South Maui home, but it is worth it if you are interested in historical preservation and meeting like-minded people. You'll be helping a good cause by attending, and like any good Maui soiree, there will of course be entertainment.

George Kahumoku JR and friends will be volunteering their talent and organizing stage performances of Hawaiian music to give back to the community by supporting the Bailey House Museum.

The Museum is open if you want to learn about the history and artifacts presented there, and the shop will also be open so you can purchase locally made products. Maui artists will be there to present and sell their work.

The music will be out on the grounds, so bring along a chair and blanket to kick back, relax and enjoy the beautiful performances. There will be non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase, but if you want snacks, bring some along. They will have limited seating for kupuna, on a first-come first-seated basis.

If listening to wonderful Hawaiian music under the moon and stars sounds like a nice way to spend your Friday evening, call (808) 244-3326. Tickets are just $15 for Maui Historical Society members and $25 for non-members. You'll be supporting a group that does wonderful work that benefits the whole island, including the South Maui community. With your ticket, you get admission to the Bailey House Museum before and during the concert. Keiki 12 and under get in free with a paid adult. If you'd like to learn more, visit mauimuseum.org.
