When you're lucky enough to call an island like Maui home, you get the benefits of a strong sense of community and the support and enthusiasm that goes along with it. With that in mind, we'd like to highlight the upcoming benefit for the Maui Arts & Cultural Center (MACC) that is coming up on Saturday, September 27th. You have some time to get your tickets, but don't wait too long, because they sell out fast, and that's why we're posting about it now and not next week.
The MACC was created by the Maui community, for the Maui community, and it has been a major triumph as a forum for performances, shows, films, concerts, exhibits, and various events. And let's not forget the benefit that it has provided for our youth! You might consider it the ultimate place on Maui for creative expression, and that's saying a lot.
"Maui Calls 2014" is the annual benefit event for the MACC, and it will feature glamorous, fun festivities within this year's theme: "Celebrating the Music of Hawai'i." There will be an ongoing stream of beautiful music, and the grounds will be transformed by thematic décor, such as fresh flower leis. Guests will be provided with gourmet pupu (appetizers) and desserts from Maui's finest chefs and restaurants. There will also be fine wine tasting from about a dozen vintners and boutique wineries from California, Washington and Oregon.
This event is known for one of the best silent auctions on the island, boasting unique Maui items that aren't available at any other time. Then of course there is the live auction, featuring some really amazing items, including an African Safari and a stay in an over-water villa in Bora Bora. Then the night is finished off with dancing, and you'll discover just how few of the attendees are content with standing on the sidelines.
This particular celebration is expected to be even more festive than in recent years because it marks the 20th Anniversary of the event. If you want to attend, the benefit will be held on Saturday, September 27th from 6pm to 10pm. You can purchase your tickets by calling (808) 242-SHOW. Tickets are $175, and guests are limited to ages 21 and over.
