Halloween Express Cruise to Lahaina

Living in South MauiOne of the great things about living in South Maui is that you get the beach town experience, but you're not too far out of the way from other places of interest. On that note, the lively town of Lahaina in West Maui is a fun place to visit, and being 35 minutes away isn't too bad. Besides, the drive is scenic. But there's one time of year in particular when Lahaina is especially exciting, while the drive becomes especially scary. If you've guessed Halloween, you're right. Lahaina is the place to go if you want to see thousands of incredible costumes on October 31st, but driving and parking are even more ghoulish than the revelers! Fortunately, there's a way around the problem.

The Pacific Whale Foundation (PWF) is providing a Halloween Express cruise this year, and it will depart from Ma'alaea at 5:30pm, delivering you and your friends to Lahaina where you can enjoy the festivities for two hours before your return trip, which departs from Lahaina Harbor 11pm. If you're not familiar with the area, the harbor is located right off Front Street, which is where the festivities will be, so all you'll need to worry about is getting to Ma'alaea Harbor. You won't have to brave the notoriously challenging traffic and parking issues that everyone else has to worry about.

The PWF makes a good solid effort to creating an enjoyable experience for its passengers, so expect plenty of merriment on the way to Lahaina and back. You can think of it as a little costume party out on the big beautiful ocean as you journey there and back. They'll provide affordable soft drinks and snacks.

If you buy tickets online at the PWF website, tickets are $32.35 each way, and you will need two tickets, for a total of $64.70 per person. On the plus side, PWF members save 20%, while kama'aina (Maui residents) save 40%, and kama'aina members save 45%. So if you're lucky enough to call Maui home and have a state I.D. to prove it, your round trip ticket total will come out to a bit less than $40, which is well worth it if you enjoy the ocean and you don't want to stay in Lahaina for more than two hours.
