First Made in Maui County Festival a Success

Over 9,000 attend this first-time Maui event.
November 10, 2014

The first ever Made in Maui County Festival took place last Saturday, November 8th - from 8:00 am to 4:30pm - at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center in Kahului and had a fantastic turnout.

This festival was formed and influenced by the success of the Made in Hawaii Festival on Oahu.  The Made in Maui County Festival attracted more than 9,000  visitors and residents.  The festival was anticipated to help stimulate our island's economy and bring understanding of locally made products.  Now, you may wonder, what constitutes "Made in Hawaii"?  Products must have at least 51% of its wholesale value added by manufacture, assembly, fabrication, or production within the state of Hawaii.

Over 130 local businesses showcased their made in Maui County products.  Products included: food, produce, arts, jewelry, fashions, gifts, crafts, collectibles and much more.  Amongst the numerous products to choose from, guests also enjoyed live demonstrations by various vendors throughout the day which began at 8:30am with MauiGrown Coffee and their demonstration on "How to Make the Perfect Cup of Coffee."  A fashion show also took place which showcased 14 different designers and there were many other various demonstrations which took place until 3:30pm.

The Food Court also provided a mouth-watering menu of ono (delicious) food from popular food truck vendors such as: Dibs on Da Ribz, Donut Dynamite!, Like Poke...?, Maui Fresh Streatery, Milagros, Sumo Dogs Maui, and Three's Bar & Grill.  In addition to all the products, food, and demonstrations, prize drawings were also held throughout the day.

The Maui Arts and Cultural Center is about a 25 minute drive from many of our property listings in South Maui.  If you need assistance with your Maui real estate search, you'll find our contact information at the bottom of the page. Mahalo!
