Life in South Maui isn't just about balmy weather and breathtaking beaches. If you're deliberating on the right place to set down permanent roots for yourself and your family with a Maui real estate purchase, you might enjoy the upcoming Taste of School Gardens event. It will give you an opportunity to discover some of the enriching and educational efforts of Maui's schools.
Like-minded families will gather to enjoy special dishes inspired by the healthy ingredients being grown on the island's campuses. All the proceeds from the event will go right back to those remarkable school gardens that continue to provide inspiration for future generations of farmers, chefs, and teachers. The food will be prepared by some of the island's premiere chefs, listed below.
Longtime Supporting Chefs:
Along with the delicious fare, the event will feature fine wine and local brews, beautiful scenery from the Hotel Wailea lawn, and live music provided by Shea Derrick and Full Flavor. There will even be a live auction featuring fun and interesting dinner events that you can indulge yourself in later.
To learn more about the event and to get your tickets, you can visit growsomegood.org/events. Grow Some Good is the non-profit organization organizing the event, and they are known for their efforts in cultivating awareness and curiosity about food sources and nutrition among students. They currently serve about 3,000 of Maui's students per year, among 12 schools. Their work includes the establishment of food gardens and living science labs in schools, along with curriculum support. The Taste of School Gardens event will be held on March 4th at Hotel Wailea at 555 Kaukahi Street from 5pm to 8:30pm. Tickets are $150.
