Once stepping off the plane onto Hawaiian soil and experiencing all that the islands have to offer, it can be rather difficult to turn back around to hop back on that plane. With warm white-sand beaches and incredibly tropical backdrops, there is no question that Hawaii is one of the top vacation destinations. For visitors, it is all sunshine and rainbows here in the islands and according to the Gallup-Healthways State Wellbeing Report for 2016, it looks like Hawaii residents agree! Ranking number 1 for the highest well-being in the United States for the sixth time in a row now, people of Hawaii have reported feeling a strong sense of community along with financial security and great physical health.

Looking at the five different aspects of their life, residents have been asked by Gallup and Healthways questions related to each of these categories:

  1. Purpose: Do you like what you do each day? Are you motivated to achieve your goals?
  2. Social: Do you have supportive relationships and love in your life?
  3. Financial: Do you manage your economic life in a way to reduce stress and increase financial security?
  4. Community: Do you like where you live, feel safe and have pride in your community.
  5. Physical: Do you have a good health and enough energy to get things done easily?

Scoring the highest in 3 out of the 5 categories, it is easy to see why Hawaii is the happiest state in the country! From farmer’s markets to health care, Hawaii works to provide residents options to improve their health! Activities like surfing and hiking also offer an endless amount of opportunities, on land and sea, to get fit and be active.

Whether you are visiting for the first time or have lived here your whole life, it is obvious that there is a strong sense of community throughout the Hawaiian Islands particularly on Maui. If you have been browsing Maui real estate because you are contemplating a permanent move to the gorgeous island, residents here embody the spirit of aloha making it a fairly simple feat to seamlessly join the Maui community.

On that note, we invite you to peruse through the homes for sale in Maui and start your life in the happiest state. For any assistance on your real estate search, please contact us. Mahalo!
