Andaz Maui at Wailea 2013 Opening

May 10, 2013

One of the most interesting Wailea developments underway is the Andaz Maui, a new luxury resort located on 15 oceanfront acres, which was the former site of the Renaissance Wailea Beach Resort that closed in 2007. Although it is not yet open, the Andaz is already accepting reservations starting on September 15th.

If you’re interested in South Maui real estate, but you’d like to come for a visit to scout things out, perhaps you might stay and explore the new hotel in the same trip. About $90 million has gone into the redevelopment of the property, which is a joint venture between Hyatt Hotels Corp. and Starwood Capital Group.

According to a spokeswoman, they are aiming for a summer opening, and about twenty employees have been hired in preparation. Most of the hiring has been for department heads and senior managers for the project, and they will certainly be adding a lot of lower level jobs in the future. All the senior management positions have been filled, and working on hiring the rest of the necessary management and associate positions.

South Maui residents looking for work in hospitality will be glad to know the Andaz is holding a job fair for local candidates this weekend. They are also accepting applications through the Andaz website. When they are finished with the hiring process there will be a staff of about 300 employees, and that’s just to start with. They expect business to increase, and their staff to increase with it.

This kind of news says a lot about confidence in the Maui visitor’s market, and it adds some vitality to the economy in this area as well, considering all the new jobs being provided. Hopefully the hotel will prosper, as will its employees. Mahalo for reading!
