Best Maui Beaches – Find the Perfect Wailea, Hawaii Beach Locations

November 22, 2019

One of the best parts of living in paradise is the ability to kick back on white sandy beaches and enjoy the warm Hawaiian sunshine. If you’re hoping to step out of your island home and take a short stroll to where the ocean meets the shoreline, South Maui real estate offers all that and so much more!

Now if you are wondering where the best place to get some sun, the real estate in Wailea is home to five crescent-shaped beaches, namely: Keawakapu, Polo, Ulua, Mokapu and Wailea Beach.

Keawakapu Beach

The long sandy beach of Keawakapu lies at the boundary of Kihei properties for sale and Wailea. Keawakapu fronts a fully developed coastline, although the structures are kept a respectable distance from the shore. When conditions are ideal, the beach offers serious swimmers an approximately mile-long lap that stretches the entire length of the beach. For those hoping to get a glimpse below the water’s surface, snorkeling is great just off the South Maui coast!

Polo Beach

A pair of sandy crescent beach, Polo Beach is a shortened version of “Ke One o Polo,” which means “the sand is not thick” as there are rocks poking through the beach. Snorkelling is good in the mornings when the waters are calm, otherwise come with a boogie board when the wind kicks up in the afternoons.

Ulua Beach

Divers head to Ulua Beach for good beginner-level dives at the outer reef. If you’d rather snorkel, head to the rocky outcrop on the north end of the beach and you’ll still see colorful corals, fish and sea turtles. When the surf is up, bring a bodyboard and enjoy the waves.

Mokapu Beach

Mokapu Beach, like most Wailea beaches, has a gently sloping near shore bottom, making it ideal for swimming. The lava outcropping that borders it and Ulua Beach offer great snorkelling opportunities. From here, as it is in the neighboring beach Ulua, you can enjoy views of Molokini and Kaho’olawe islands.

Wailea Beach

Of the South Maui beaches, Wailea Beach is the most stunning, especially if being regularly named as one of the world’s best beaches is any indication! Fronting two of the luxury hotel resorts in Wailea, the beach is wide, the sand is white and fine-grained, and the waters are inviting. Small waves beckon boogie boarders and body surfers while calm conditions invite snorkelers around the rocky outcroppings on both ends of the beach.

From lounging with your favourite read to catching some waves, there truly is something special about living near Maui’s top beaches. And thanks to the upscale amenities and recreation, the luxury real estate right here in Wailea makes life feel just like a Hawaii vacation year-round!
