Maui Hotels Dominate Hawaii’s Corporate Event Resorts

June 21, 2013

Maui no ka oi means Maui is the best, and corporate event planners tend to agree, based on a list of the 100 most popular resorts for corporate events. The report analyzed booking activity and other marketplace data provided by Cvent Supplier Network, which is an online marketplace that connects corporate planners with venues.

Hawaii’s performance was excellent, and it should reinforce the work done by the state as officials continue to build business around meetings, incentives and conventions. The new tagline is Meet Hawaii. This simple phrase is part of their effort to define and reinforce the state’s brand as a world-class destination for corporate events and the like.

Of the list of the top 100 resorts, Hawaii claimed nine spots, six of which were located on Maui. Oahu, the Big Island and Kauai only held one spot each. There were 3,500 venues total, so the top 100 really marks a prestigious achievement. For Maui to win six out of nine Hawaiian spots on the list is something to celebrate.

Maui’s winning hotels were the Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort; Fairmont Kea Lani Maui; Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea; The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua; Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa; and The Westin Maui Resort & Spa in Kaanapali. The first three hotels are located on beautiful oceanfront property in Wailea, while the next three are located in West Maui. The venues that made the top 100 list were not ranked, so there’s no way to compare winners.

We do know that the winners were chosen based on metrics and third party review scores based on amenities, meeting space, number of meeting rooms, number of guest rooms, volume of meetings and room nights booked.

It would have been interesting to see which hotels performed better than others, but we’ll have to be content knowing that Maui performed well. We personally can’t be surprised about Wailea’s winners. This part of the island is stunning, and it was an obvious choice for these resort locations. It’s also an obvious choice for real estate. If you are looking for a South Maui home or condo, we’d be happy to assist you in your search. Mahalo!
