It’s times like these when specializing in South Maui real estate is exciting. Despite Oahu’s decline in visitor spending during the month of October, Maui saw a bit of growth. There has been a lot of attention on the luxurious Andaz Hotel, a major development in South Maui, and the latest news is that The Fairmont Kea Lani is about to finish an $8 million renovation process of its Willow Stream Spa.
New developments like the Andaz are encouraging enough to potential real estate investors, but it’s also reassuring to know that hotels like the Kea Lani are in a position to renovate.
The Willow Stream Spa has now doubled in size, from 4,000-square-feet to 9,000. Everything in the renovated version is brand new, so it should be an interesting visit for those who enjoyed the pre-renovation version. While the renovation was going on, the hotel gave spa treatments in charming cabanas, which must have been interesting for guests, but based on the cost of the renovation, they are probably going to prefer the new spa.
The Kea Lani has in fact spent around $70 million in renovations over the past couple of years, which isn’t surprising, considering how highly rated the hotel is. This is one of those favorites with guests who return over and over. It helps that Nick’s Fishmarket is one of the most highly rated restaurants on the island, and is located in the hotel. Hopefully, the spa will meet with it’s own great success and generate a robust local clientele.
