New Gastropub Open in Wailea

June 24, 2016

A brand new gastropub, The Pint & Cork, has just opened at The Shops at Wailea here in South Maui. Its menu will feature an innovative selection of craft beers, cocktails and upscale bar cuisine that should attract plenty of foodies from around the island, including visitors. Theirs is a convenient location for South Maui residents, and it will undoubtedly become a favorite spot for some.

The Pint & Cork is situated next to Rolex and across from Gucci in The Shops at Wailea, replacing the Japanese restaurant and sushi bar Kai Wailea. Its 27,000 square feet of floor space includes an upstairs area for private parties and sporting events, and in July, it will open its patio area for some pleasant outdoor seating.

Although the space was previously a restaurant, renovations came with a $600,000 price tag. The design features exposed brick walls, a 40-foot soapstone bar and sixteen televisions that the sports fans are sure to appreciate.

The cuisine will cover a broad price range. For example, their mac and cheese with truffle oil is priced at $7.50, while on the other end of the spectrum, their ahi sandwiches are $19.50. Closer to the middle is their pork belly banh me sandwich at $16.50. Beverages include cocktails and beer, from about $5 to $13. According to co-owner Scott Pacer, their cocktails are made speakeasy style, meaning quietly, without the cacophony of blenders.

This is the very first Pint & Cork, but the owners plan to expand to neighboring islands and the Mainland. Those owners include Mark Baldwin, Chris Lowney, Mike Thomas and Scott Pacer.

This pub should be an interesting place to check out if you’re in search of a new experience and new flavors. If you’re a prospective Wailea home buyer who is just getting to know the area, you’ll discover many quality establishments nearby, with a little exploration.
